The Queen\'s Speech & Section 21

This morning's Queen’s Speech confirmed what we was expecting, that the Government will bring forward "new measures to protect tenants”.

The speech did not go into details, so until we know more the best plan of action is business as usual.

What the speech does indicate is that a new Renters Reform Bill will be introduced to protect tenants, and as I mentioned in my previous blog, this will remove Section 21 from the Housing Act.

Whilst Section 21 is removed, there are proposals to suggest “strengthening the rights of landlords who need to gain possession of their property when they have a valid reason to do so”.

I personally feel, as long as the Government improves the Section 8 provisions, and maybe even introduce specialist court/tribunal for this purpose as they suggested previously, this should assist the Rental experience for both the Landlord and Tenant.

Until Next Time
